Navigating the Top 10 Pediatric Dental Challenges in General Practice
About this Seminar
This lecture will cover the most common pediatric dental issues general dentists face. Topics include managing dental caries and infection, molar incisor hypo mineralization, ectopic eruption, non-nutritive habits, behaviour management strategies and evaluation and treatment of tethered oral tissues such as tongue and lip ties. This session will be a didactic and case based session for participants.

About Dr. Marc Horton
Dr. Marc Horton is a staff dentist at Eastern Health at the Janeway Dental Clinic. He obtained his dental degree from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Following dental school, he completed two years of general practice residency at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry, and the Veterans Affairs of Greater Los Angeles. He then completed a two-year pediatrics residency at the University of Washington and obtained a certificate in pediatric dentistry and a Master of Science in Dentistry. Before joining Eastern Health, he worked in private practice in northwest Washington State for three years.
About Dr. Trang Nguyen
Dr. Trang Nguyen is the Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre. She obtained her degree in Dentistry from the University of Alberta, completed her Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Toronto, and spent an additional two years training at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario. She is an assistant professor at Memorial University and the University of Toronto. She is the chair of the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Scientific Committee, past-president of the Canadian Pediatric Society Oral Health Committee, member of the NLDA Public Awareness Committee, and an examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, National Dental Examining Board of Canada and the American Board of Pediatric Dentist.
